      The Southern University Counseling Center has added an extra service to their office for this semester to better help students cope with stress related issues.​ The ‘Serenity Room,' which was once the counseling center's reading room, has been transformed into a relaxing, therapeutic setting for students to relax and unwind from a long day.

      Students interested in law got a sample law session and some exposure to law curriculum at the 19thAnnual Pre-Law day at Southern University Law Center. The law day featured a mock law class, an organizational expo, sessions on money management, ‘trailway trivia' and a law school tour.

      Current and former Southern University music students and band members, along with many from the university community, said their goodbyes to Carnell Knighten Wednesday at the F.G. Clark Activity Center. Knighten, 60, was the School of Music's technology director and director of the university's woodwind symphony.

The lack of attendance at the first showing of the movie Pride, could have been due to lack of advertising. The fact is that a lot of students were just unaware of Mid-Day movies.

      Southern University is keeping its word of new beginnings with the planned launch of its new website  at http://subr.aromaticlogic.com  on February 24, 2011. The website can now be viewed to gain feedback for the official launch.​ An email was sent to students and Southern personnel announcing the Beta site  until the final version is launched.

According to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), "Heart disease is the leading cause of death for both men and women, and more than half of the deaths due to heart disease in 2008 were in men.

      Wednesday marked the beginning of Financial Aid Awareness month for all students receiving federal aid for school funding. All students are being strongly advised to complete their online Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) applications so that the processing of information is done before the fall semester arrives.
